Thank you for supporting Soup Run
THE Plymouth Soup Run would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers and supporters and explain some background to this long-standing operation. Many readers will have heard of the Soup Run but may not know that it has been established for over 20 years.
Every evening, a team of volunteers prepares soup, sandwiches, pasties, cake and hot drinks and takes them through the city to give to the homeless and vulnerable at four appointed stops. In addition, every Sunday evening there is an indoor soup kitchen based at Shekinah.
In a year we provide around 22,000 meals and many of the people supported are also signposted to other help that they need.
Considerable organisation and resources are needed for the overall operation, and hundreds of volunteers are involved.
So we extend a big “Thank you” to all of the individual volunteers as well as to the faith groups, shops, businesses and local organisations who support us with food, clothes, toiletries and money. Your donations are greatly appreciated and enable us to help those in need.
We particularly want to express our thanks for the extra gifts donated over the Christmas period.
With years of experience behind us, the ‘Soup Run’ is here for the long haul supporting homeless and vulnerable people 365 days a year.
We operate with clear guidelines, high standards and good links to the local authority and specialist services. We look forward to continuing support from the local community and our many loyal volunteers and donors.
