Plymouth Soup Run
As the year draws to a close, on Thursday, it was time for our volunteers to take an evening to reflect on everything they’ve done this year to help those who need us. It was also a chance for us to thank everyone for their contribution to Plymouth Soup Run, be that in time, donations or financial contributions. A special mention to Gavin Hobbs who kindly did all the catering for this special evening. Huge thanks to you ALL. We can only support the people we serve every night because of everyone’s contribution.#teamwork #MakeADifference #communitysupport ... See MoreSee Less

Plymouth Soup Run
On Friday, while people were waiting at the first Plymouth Soup Run stop, the rain came down in torrents, but then eased off. Unsurprisingly it was a quieter evening for the team from #plymouthchristiancentre who served 66 people with 5 extra meals collected for family members. Having catered for 90, people at the last 2 stops were given some extra food, with the remaining 20 hot meals, sausage rolls, beans and potatoes taken to George House BCHA.Many people were cold from the persistent rain during the day and lots of coats, jumpers, socks, gloves, and hats were handed out.Mutley Baptist Church was open overnight as part of project 58 : 7 and 3 people, who were #streethomeless, were making their way to the church to sleep in the dry. Many thanks to everyone who gave their time to serve last night. Together we will try to #MakeADifference and offer #communitysupport. ... See MoreSee Less

Plymouth Soup Run
Last time the team from #plymouthmayflowerrotaryclub served Plymouth Soup Run it was a very wet and windy night. Last night, in contrast, it was just very cold and people were pleased to have the hot soup, drinks and pasties to warm them up. The team catered for 100 people and by the end of the evening everything had gone with some food being collected for people in emergency accommodation. 3 sleeping bags were given out plus lots of clothes and some toiletries. As always it was good to catch up with people and hear how they are. Many thanks to Mayflower Rotary Club for their support in 2025 see you all next year. #helpingothers #MakeADifference #communitysupport ... See MoreSee Less

Plymouth Soup Run
The team from #MutleyBaptistChurch served on Plymouth Soup Run on a busy, wet, Wednesday evening.Paddy, the team leader says “We were blessed to have Path Devon (Emily and Simon) with us tonight who were signposting service users to Project 58:7 .Accommodation was found for 3 service users, 1 declined and there was 1 possibility. This was in addition to 3 people who had already been allocated accommodation. As such no sleeping bags were given out, although 4 blankets were requested, as well as a multitude of other clothing (socks!!!) and toiletries”. During the evening the team served 86 people with 9 extras collected for family / friends. The team were exceptionally well supported by Tesco with a donation of £120 worth of items from their shop on Mutley Plain. Rafael dropped two large bags off at stop one and the team also received a donation from another man.Being able to talk to people who are #streethomeless about the possibility of overnight accommodation is really positive. On Friday and Saturday night, it will be the turn of #mutleybaptistchurch to offer a warm, safe space to people.#helpingothers #MakeADifference #teamwork ... Plymouth Soup Run
A very well done and thank you to the team of students from Plymouth Marjon University who, from start to finish, organised the Soup Run on Tuesday. Not only did the team raise all the money needed to purchase the food for the night they also made a substantial donation, £100 + to Plymouth Soup Run. The students prepared plenty of food including lentil and vegetable soup, served with dunking bread, sandwiches, sausage rolls and pasties, fruit, chocolate bars and crisps. 75 people came to collect food with 7 bags collected for family members. At the final stop there was enough food for everyone to have seconds. Tuesday was the first night of Project 58: 7 when churches across the city open to provide overnight shelter for people who would be #streethomeless. During the evening 4 people were referred from the ‘Run’. Huge thanks to EVERYONE who helped last night - the students, their lecturers, #CharlieEde who helped in the kitchen and #thecornwallbakery for the pasties and sausage rolls. Plymouth Soup Run
A Saturday leading up to Christmas at #Shekinah can only mean 1 thing, there are lots of people to thank for their donations and also for their help. People arrived throughout the morning with truly amazing donations, some of which we gave out straight away. Lucy, her family and friends donated LOTS of really useful clothes, Teresa and Kev arrived with boxes full to the brim, including everything we had asked for in our Reverse Advent Calendar Appeal and Ella arrived with a mixture of really helpful items, including a selection box which we shared with people straight away. 2 sleeping bags and some bedding was also dropped off during the morning. While donations were arriving the Plymouth Soup Run volunteers also cooked and served 18 breakfasts, prepared packed lunches, gave out items of clothing and, through Plymouth City Council, arranged emergency accommodation for someone for the weekend. During the morning we were joined by a dental nurse and a dental hygienist from #peninsuladental giving advice on teeth care. HUGE thanks to everyone, together we can #MakeADifference. ... Plymouth Soup Run
It was a steady Friday night for the team from #plymouthchristiancentre. No stop was too busy and everyone was very cheerful and in good spirits, despite a damp evening. The food was popular - pumpkin soup went down a treat after initial reservations! And the sausages, meat or vegetarian, with potatoes, vegetables and gravy were much appreciated . A special treat was provided by Lynette who made 80 portions of apple and pear crumble. Having prepared food for more people than arrived at the stops (just 57), the team were very generous with plenty for family and friends, plus lots of extras. Many thanks to everyone from Plymouth Christian Centre who help by collecting, preparing and serving on Plymouth Soup Run.Thanks also to Sharon Brodie- Churchward for her generous donation of Pot Noodles and cartons of juice. #communitysupport #MakeADifference #Teamwork ... Plymouth Soup Run
On Monday Plymouth Soup Run was coordinated by #hopebaptistchurch. The food prep team led by Viv, along with the Dockyard Team, prepared food for 120 as the numbers have been quite high recently. However, on a much quieter night the team only saw 72 clients so there were plenty of extras for friends and family.Volunteers from #msubs served on the Run with Prayer Pastors Richard and Bronia, providing listening ears. With a cold night ahead some of the rough sleepers were expressing their concern. As always on a Monday, volunteers from StreetVet were out with the team.
