Plymouth Soup Run
The team from St Paul’s Church, Efford, arrived at the first stop at 8:35 p.m. to be met by a queue the full length of the road. And people kept coming until 9:15 p.m. with 90 meals served just at the first stop! The volunteers catered for 120 people but by the last stop all the hot food and soup had gone. However, always prepared, the team were able to dig deep into their reserves to give out pot noodles, cup a soups and extra snack bags were made up, so everyone had enough. By the end of the evening 145 people had been served. Making this probably the busiest night ever! 7 sleeping bags and roll mats were given out plus lots of clothing and toiletries. Plymouth Soup Run
Fortunately, on Saturday, the rain held off for the volunteers from Plymstock United Church. The team prepared food for 85 people and served 85 with a few emergency supplies shared at the last stop. The homemade soup was very popular. As well as food, 1 sleeping bag, 2 blankets, a roll mat, a day rider and some clothes were given out. Lots of banter exchanged between people and as is so often the case, we heard both positive and sad news. Wonderful to see the support offered between the people we serve, with a couple now accommodated, passing on some of their survival items to a man newly homeless. Many thanks to all the team.#communitysupport #helpingothers #MakeADifference ... Plymouth Soup Run
On a chilly, drizzly Saturday morning, we welcomed 22 people to the rough sleeper session at Shekinah. It was busy but calm and productive. All clients had a cooked breakfast with the option of a shower, clean clothes and a packed lunch. Three people were recently discharged from hospital, one of whom was helped to reconnect to support outside Plymouth. All appreciated the quiet convivial atmosphere and the beauty of the garden that is really coming into its own as spring advances. Thanks to our volunteers - on the door, in the kitchen, serving food and chatting, managing the showers/laundry and cleaning. A great team effort. ... See MoreSee Less

Plymouth Soup Run
Friday night was dry but surprisingly chilly. A slightly quieter evening with 74 people served by the team from Plymouth Christian Centre. During the day the cooks prepared jacket potatoes with cheese and beans, lentil and tomato soup, and cheese and ham sandwiches. Given the higher numbers served earlier in the week the team over catered so were very generous after stop 1 with most people receiving extra. The surplus food was well received at George House BCHA.Many thanks to EVERYONE who helped. Great to be joined by some new volunteers. And, as always, thanks to FareShare South West for the supplies. #teamwork #communitysupport #helpingothers ... See MoreSee Less

Thursday was another very busy night for Plymouth Soup Run. The team from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints prepared food for 100 people with some Pot Noodles available, if the main food rain out. By the end of the night, once everyone had been served, there was no food left. Because of the high number of people currently being served the number of second bags available is very limited.Wherever possible people are being encouraged to come and collect their own food.3 sleeping bags were given out along with some toiletries. A number of people wanted to chat and it was great to hear some positive news about someone’s upcoming accommodation. Many thanks to all the team both in the kitchen and out on the Run.#communitysupport #makeadifference.#helpingothers ...
