On Tuesday evening a team of people were busy in the kitchen and hall at St Matts Plymouth preparing the food for Plymouth Soup Run. 2 enormous pans were simmering in the kitchen, one with tomato and vegetable soup, the other with spicy Tempeh and vegetables, to be served with rice. The sandwiches were ham and cucumber or cheese and tomato.
The snack bags were being made up and there were trays of vegetables and fruit to share.
Once all the food was prepared the volunteers who were serving on the run arrived and loaded their cars.
74 people were served during the evening with another 7 bags collected for family / friends unable to come to the Run.
The team had prepared food for 100 people so at the last stop everyone was offered extra and the remaining food was taken to George House BCHA.

It was another exceptionally busy Sunday night for our regular team of volunteers, who were fortunately joined by 4 members of STORM running.
With 123 people served there was very little food left by the time we reached the last stop, so 5 people came down to Shekinah, where we were able to give them some food from our store cupboard. As Tuesday, once we saw how many people were at the first stop, 7 3, we had to decline all requests for second bags.
The hot meals were cheesy pasta bake either with or without bacon and sausage or Thai Chicken.
There were also bananas and some yogurts.
Many thanks to FareShare South West for many of the ingredients.
2 blankets and 2 sleeping bags were given out.
And we sent 1 person to A & E in a taxi.
HUGE thanks to all the team for their help on a VERY busy night.
Also many, many thanks for all the donations we have received via our Amazon Wish List in the last couple of days - 5 sleeping bags, 6 pairs of joggers, 3 trays of Pot Noodles and some ladies underwear, all received anonymously.
Thanks also to Dawn, her dad & clients at #thecuttingcorner for their very generous donations. We used the drinks straight away.
The support Plymouth Soup Run receives from everyone is truly wonderful. Thank you ALL.

It was a slightly quieter Saturday than expected for the team from #stpaulschurchefford with 83 people at Plymouth Soup Run and a further 10 meals collected for family / friends.
However, a few years ago serving 93 meals would have been seen as a very busy night.
The team served cottage pie, and strawberries, with soup, sandwiches and a snack bag.
The extra food was given out at the last stop.
Toiletries and clothes were in demand and 2 sleeping bags and 1 sleeping mat were also given out.

Information on 3 people new to rough sleeping will be passed to Path Devon.
It was particularly sad to hear another person’s news about their health.
Plymouth Soup Run is about so much more than food and for many people we are their first point of contact in times of need.
Huge thanks to all the volunteers from Plymouth Citybus who, to many people’s amazement, arrived in the open top bus.
Fortunately, because of their generous catering there was enough food for everyone who came to the Run last night but due to the high numbers we were unable to give out second bags at the first 2 stops.
