Plymouth Soup Run
Saturday was the last Plymouth Soup Run of 2025 for the team of volunteers from #PlymstockUnitedChurch. It was a quiet, calm and chilly evening with 56 people waiting for food with another 8 bags collected for family / friends. There was plenty of food for everyone with clothes, toiletries, and some ambient food also available. Mutley Baptist Church was again open overnight and one person, who hadn’t previously used the provision, was so relieved to hear they could sleep inside in the warm. Many thanks to everyone who volunteered last night, whether out on the Run or at the church. #helpingothers #MakeADifference ... See MoreSee Less

The team from #plymouthchristiancentre prepared a good supply of food on Boxing Day, including mushroom soup, a selection of pies with roasted veg and gravy, turkey and cranberry sandwiches, plus ham and cheese sandwiches. There were also lots of extras, including marshmallows and cashew nuts. A total of 52 meals were served, but the team adopted a generous approach when they realised numbers weren’t going to be high…and everyone had just as much as they wanted.Warm clothes were in demand, and woolly hats, scarves and plenty of socks were distributed to those who asked. A few coats were also given out.A big thank you to the people who donated turkeys and winter clothes. The sandwiches (turkey & cranberry) were delicious. The remaining food was delivered to George House BCHA. Thanks to ALL the volunteers from Plymouth Christian Centre for cooking, organising and serving on Boxing Day. Project 58:7 was in operation with #MutleyBaptistChurch open for people with no accommodation and people were advised to go there overnight. 2 people were also at The Salvation Army Devonport Life House Plymouth. Many thanks to Path Devon, Transforming Plymouth Together and all the churches for providing shelter during the long, cold winter nights. #communitysupport #helpingothers #MakeADifference ... Plymouth Soup Run
This is a special shout out to all who have made cash donations to Plymouth Soup Run in the weeks leading up to Christmas. We receive help in many different forms from food to clothing, toiletries, sleeping bags and other practical items, delivered in person or via our Amazon Wish List plus, of course, the many hours of their own time that our volunteers give. This enables us to meet a large part of the needs that we experience in trying to provide a comprehensive service. But the crucial component that complements all of these and allows us to support our clients speedily and flexibly is funding. So, on behalf of the people we serve, we send a heartfelt thank you to our cash donors. ... See MoreSee Less
