Plymouth Soup Run serves the homeless 365 days a year

Without fail, every Wednesday evening, a team of v Without fail, every Wednesday evening, a team of volunteers from Mutley Baptist Church serve on Plymouth Soup Run, having sourced and prepared the food earlier. Last night was another beautiful, clear night with 87 people served. 
Wednesday night is one of the main nights when clothes are available and, last night, lots of joggers, tee shirts and 2 coats were given out, as well as toiletries. 
At the end of the evening the spare food was taken to George House, BCHA.

On a beautiful Tuesday evening, huge thanks to Bid On a beautiful Tuesday evening, huge thanks to Bidfood UK for organising and serving on Plymouth Soup Run. The team had a fantastic selection of food. The hot food was Macaroni Cheese served with or without slow cooked pulled beef. The snack bags were full of goodies and there was a choice of sandwiches, cans of soft drinks and water, plus hot drinks and soup. With plenty of food for the 80 people who came to the Run, extras were available at the last stop and for family members.
The team were also joined by Tara from Livewell Southwest who had some vapes available. 
Everyone served left with a smile on their face and there were lots of appreciative thanks.

On a warm and at times, very misty Monday evening, On a warm and at times, very misty Monday evening, the team from Hope Baptist Church and #BabcockTU served 100 people. There was plenty of food for everyone including 2 huge bags of food from Tesco. As always on a Monday the chicken was very popular. 
2 sleeping bags, a blanket and a day rider, to go to a hospital appointment, were also given out. A number of updates were sent to Path Devon.
Every Monday StreetVet Plymouth are on hand to support with any animals in need of help.

The team served 99 people, with a choice of pasta bake or vegetarian lasagna followed by mince pie and custard. As always there was a snack bag, homemade soup plus hot and cold drinks. 
3 sleeping bags, pants, socks and toiletries were also given out and 1 day rider.
Many thanks to Saint Paul’s who serve regularly on a Saturday evening, cover for the Sunday team when it’s their night off and step in at short notice if we are without a team. Amazing #communityservice, thank you.
With only 3 stops tonight because of the event on With only 3 stops tonight because of the event on the Hoe the evening seemed quiet but in fact the team from the Lighthouse Community Centre CIC Liskeard served almost exactly the same number of people as Friday night, 68. There was plenty of food for everyone with a number of people having something extra. As well as food, toiletries and some items of clothing were available. 1 person, newly accommodated had some bedding and towels.

On a damp, drizzly Friday evening a team of volunt On a damp, drizzly Friday evening a team of volunteers from Plymouth Christian Centre were busy serving on the streets of Plymouth. 
During the afternoon a team worked hard in the kitchen preparing the food to be served. On the menu - home-made tomato soup,  haddock chowder pasta, hunter chicken slices, cheese and onion rolls and 4 varieties of sandwiches. Hot and cold drinks were also available. 
67 people were served. Two sleeping bags were given out & 2 day riders, so people who are #streethomeless with mobility issues, can access #Shekinah on Saturday morning.

Thursday evening saw almost spot on catering from Thursday evening saw almost spot on catering from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Plymouth. The team prepared meals for 100 and served 91, so people at the last stop were able to have the few extras that were left. Toiletries were also available together with underwear and socks. Updates and queries were sent to Path Devon Rough Sleepers Team. Collaborative working is at the heart of all we do.

It was a damp and drizzly Wednesday night when the It was a damp and drizzly Wednesday night when the team from Mutley Baptist Church served on Plymouth Soup Run. As always there were lots of people waiting for food and, as it was a Wednesday night, many people were hoping to collect essential items of clothing as well. 
88 meals were served & 3 sleeping bags were given out with referrals to the Rough Sleepers Team Path Devon. Lots of socks, 5 pairs of trousers, tee shirts, coats, underwear and toiletries were also given to people in need.

Many thanks to all the volunteers from St Matts Pl Many thanks to all the volunteers from St Matts Plymouth who served 100 meals on Tuesday evening. The sweet chilli and rice was very popular. 
3 sleeping bags were given out to people who are #streethomeless. 
Lots of toiletries, men’s socks, underwear and T-shirts were also given out plus 2 day riders for people with mobility issues / appointments. 
Great to hear that 1 person received amazing support from Citizens Advice Plymouth following the information he received from the team on Monday.

Volunteers from #SaltashMedicalCentre helped Viv & Jean prepare the food & as always on a Monday the hot chicken was very popular. 
A team from #BabcockTU served on the bus, driven by Ben, who was able to provide advice on emergency fuel payments & housing issues.
Simon & Richard, prayer pastors, were availlable to listen, chat and catch up on people’s news. 
4 sleeping bags were given out as well as clothes & toiletries. 
As always on a Monday #StreetVet were a welcome addition to the team.

Delicious and nutritious Chicken and Bacon soup wa Delicious and nutritious Chicken and Bacon soup was on the menu on Sunday. Thanks to #GavinHobbs for making the soup and FareShare South West for the ingredients. The team also served a selection of hot items, including vegetarian lasagna, sandwiches, fruit, snacks and hot and cold drinks. Hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows was VERY popular. 
After a quieter week the number of people waiting for food on Saturday and Sunday was 100 +. 
Yesterday, following a phone call from a health professional,  an emergency food package was delivered to a person who was diabetic, housebound and with no food. A sad reminder both that life can be very hard for some people and that on a Sunday, Plymouth Soup Run is one of the only food providers operating. As always many thanks to ALL the team.
Saturday mornings at Shekinah are only possible be Saturday mornings at Shekinah are only possible because volunteers come down each week to open the drop-in Centre for people who are #streethomeless. Many of our volunteers come regularly including the team from Forgotten Feet - Helping Homeless Feet who were with us this morning.
Today, Joshua, who has been volunteering with us for 3 1/2 years, did his last morning with us for a while, as he is soon to be a Dad. So we have given him volunteering paternity leave! 
And one of our regular cooks , Nicky, is shortly to become a granny again. Exciting times ahead for you both. We can’t wait to hear your news and see some photos.

Friday was a warm, relatively quiet night with a l Friday was a warm, relatively quiet night with a lower number of people waiting for food. 56 people were served with another 3 bags collected for family members. The team from Plymouth Christian Centre prepared a selection of hot savouries, sandwiches, soup, fruit and snacks. Cartons of milk were available and the bottles of water were much in demand.
1 sleeping bag was given out. As always it was good to chat to people and hear their news. Many thanks to Plymouth Christian Centre and their team of volunteers for organising and serving on Plymouth Soup Run every Friday.
Many thanks to the #CornwallBakery (Samworth Broth Many thanks to the #CornwallBakery (Samworth Brothers) for providing all the food and serving on Plymouth Soup Run every 5 weeks. On Thursday, the team served 70 people with 5 bags collected for family members. There was plenty of food for everybody, with a wonderful selection of sandwiches, pasties, soup, hot drinks and a snack bag for everyone. The team had so many sandwiches they were able to drop some to George House for the residents there to enjoy .
One sleeping bag and one day rider were given out. Huge thanks to the Cornwall Bakery for their continuing support.
Every Wednesday evening a team of volunteers from Every Wednesday evening a team of volunteers from Mutley Baptist Church collect, prepare and serve the food on the Soup Run. Last night was a beautiful evening, light until the end of the final stop, when a total of 78 meals had been served. Wednesday, is the main night when clothes are distributed and last night lots of tee shirts and joggers were given out, as well as deodorant and toothpaste. All the spare, ambient food was taken to George House.

Apologies for Monday nights late posting but bette Apologies for Monday nights late posting but better late than never! As always on a Monday the Run was organised by Hope Baptist Church. This week Jan and her team were in the kitchen and prepared delicious bolognaise served with jacket potatoes. Volunteers on the run were from #JubbEngineering, together with Kath and Alex who provided a listening ear. As always on a Monday StreetVet Plymouth were at every stop with a queue of dogs waiting to see them. Thanks to ALL involved. 86 people were served with 2 referrals to Path
Many thanks to Obedair who continue to support Ply Many thanks to Obedair who continue to support Plymouth Soup Run by purchasing, preparing and serving the food on the Run every quarter. Last night the team had plenty of food for everyone, including a choice of pasties, sausage rolls, sandwiches, soup, snacks, hot drinks and water. 
80 people were served. As well as food, 1 sleeping bag was given out, 2 people were told they had a place on the night shelter and 1 day rider was given out so a man could collect his keys to his new flat, having been in B & B accommodation for a long time. Such positive news.

Chicken and bacon pasta bake was extremely popular Chicken and bacon pasta bake was extremely popular on Sunday evening with many people tucking in straight away. Huge thanks to Jenny and Phillip who did the cooking and to FareShare South West for the chicken and bacon. We had so much chicken we were able to make chicken sandwiches, as well as the usual ham and cheese. 
For pudding we served yoghurt, fresh fruit, or fruit salad and whipped cream. 
96 people were served with numbers higher than the last couple of days.
Thanks to Edwina and Nicky for offering to make the sandwiches, at short notice, as our team was rather depleted this week.
Sadly 1 person at the first stop was extremely unwell and an ambulance was called. However, as that service was busy the police responded and took the person to hospital.

On Saturday evening there was a choice of 2 delici On Saturday evening there was a choice of 2 delicious homemade soups: smokey bacon or vegetable plus all the usual fayre. It was another quieter night with 59 people served between the 3 stops (we will be back to 4 stops on Monday) and another 10 bags collected for family members.
In contrast to Friday night, it was a dry, light evening with lots of time to chat to people and catch up on their news.
Many thanks to the team from Plymstock United Church who prepare the food and serve on the “Run” every 4 weeks.

This evening, with the rain pouring down, there we This evening, with the rain pouring down, there were still 52 people waiting for food with another 6 bags collected for family members. Plymouth Christian Centre organise the Run every Friday with a team of volunteers collecting and preparing the food which is then served by more volunteers who go out on the run. 
Tonight there was fresh tomato and teriyaki soup, sausage rolls, vegetarian lasagna, sandwiches, hot drinks and water. Lots of bread and other items were also dropped off from #Tesco.
As well as food, clothes, toiletries and a sleeping bag were also given out.
