Plymouth Soup Run
Monday night saw a particularly busy first stop, especially for #StreetVet Kathryn and Alice. Gabby and Alex, our Prayer Pastors were able to chat and listen as folks voiced their concerns, particularly over family illnesses. Plymouth Soup Run
As is so often the case Sunday evening on Plymouth Soup Run was the busiest night of the week with 95 people served plus another 5 meals collected for family / friends. The regular team were once again joined by STORM running and together prepared plenty of food. There was a choice of 3 varieties of sandwiches, a selection of hot items including chicken, quiche, pasties and sausage rolls, snack bags, leek and potato soup, hot and cold drinks, hard boiled eggs and yogurtsLast night 2 people presented with health concerns both of which are being followed up with the HIPP team. 2 sleeping bags were given out with updates on people newly #streethomeless sent to Path Devon. Plymouth Soup Run
It was an extremely busy Saturday morning for Plymouth Soup Run volunteers and the 2 podiatrists from Forgotten Feet - Helping Homeless Feet. 28 people were served during the morning with 18 people through the door in the first 15 minutes. 11 people had their feet treated. 7 people had a shower and lots of clothes were given out. 2 referrals will be made to Path Devon. Plymouth Soup Run
Once again the team of cooks from Plymouth Christian Centre were busy on Friday afternoon preparing the food for their weekly Plymouth Soup Run. On the menu - Spiced Halloumi Wraps with sweet chilli cabbage and roasted veg, Lentil and Tomato soup and a choice of cheese and onion or ham and cheese sandwiches. Plus a selection of hot drinks. 64 people were served during the evening with another 14 meals collected for family / friends. The Lentil and Tomato soup was very popular and some people, who had never eaten Halloumi before, were keen to try it.2 sleeping bag and lots of toiletries were also given out. Plymouth Soup Run
For the 2nd time in 3 days a business team have sourced, prepared and served the food on Plymouth Soup Run. On Thursday a team from #thecornwallbakery served 72 people with another 9 meals collected for family / friends. The team had lots of food. There were 6 varieties of sandwiches and wraps and 3 types of hot pasties or slices for people to choose from. Plus a snack bag, chicken soup, which received many compliments, and hot drinks. As the team had plenty of food everyone at the last stop was able to have something extra with the remaining food shared between George House BCHA and the Saturday morning Soup Run session at Shekinah.Many thanks to the Cornwall Bakery for their support, not only serving on the Run but also regularly supplying Soup Run teams with pasties, slices and sausage rolls. Plymouth Soup Run
It was a calm, quiet, cold but dry night on Wednesday for the team from #mutleybaptistchurch. 54 people were served during the evening with another 10 meals collected for family / friends. There were no requests for sleeping bags but 2 people asked to be referred to Path Devon, so an early morning welfare call could take place on Thursday morning, when the Rough Sleepers Team do their rounds.As always on a Wednesday there were lots of clothes available, with socks being the most requested item. Plymouth Soup Run
After a few nights of good weather, it was a very windy but mostly dry night, for the team from Plymouth Citybus.As usual, when the bus arrived, everyone was delighted to see it. One person was so pleased they thought they would like to join the team so they could go to the 4 stops and help serve.After a busier couple of nights, it was quieter again, with 61 people served between the 4 stops plus another 9 meals collected for family / friends. There was plenty of food, as the team had catered for more people, so everyone at the last stop had some extra food. Citybus were joined by Darren from the HIPP team, Health Inclusion Pathway Plymouth, offering support and connection to other services in the city. Monday night, as always, was coordinated by #hopebaptistchurch. 84 people were served with 6 extra bags collected for friends or family.Prayer Pastors Simon and Richard were keen to listen to the many who shared their hopes and concerns. Once again it was good to hear that 1 person now has accommodation and we were proudly shown the keys. Plymouth Soup Run
A HUGE thank you to Sarah at Harbourside Fish & Chips for coming to the rescue of Plymouth Soup Run on Sunday. With no gas at Shekinah, where we prepare the food, we didn’t know how we would feed everyone but Sarah very generously donated 105 portions of chips and sausages. Thanks also to #charlieede who kindly took all the soup home and heated it up so there was plenty of hot food available. Meanwhile the team were busy making sandwiches, hot drinks and serving on the night. We were pleased to welcome Lexi, our new DofE student who, together with Finn helped to bag everything up. There was plenty of fruit, thanks to FareShare South West and a dessert for everyone thanks to Rex Down Fish Merchants. During the evening Calum from #BsBHarchesterFC kindly delivered a donation of baked beans collected by the team together with lots of reusable cups. After a much quieter week, It was a busy evening with 109 people served and another 10 bags of food collected for family members. It was another quieter evening with 55 people served at Plymouth Soup Run plus 10 meals collected for family / friends. Plymouth Soup Run
It was a slightly different Saturday morning at Shekinah, as we arrived to find there was no gas!! The menu was quickly changed from a full English to baked beans, scrambled eggs and toast. There was also plenty of cereal, fruit, biscuits and hot drinks available as well. 22 people were served during the morning and everyone was so understanding about the changes.Huge thanks to all our volunteers. Plymouth Soup Run
A Friday can only mean one thing, a team of volunteers from Plymouth Christian Centre will have prepared food during the afternoon for another team of volunteers to serve on Plymouth Soup Run. Yesterday was no exception. During the afternoon vegetable curry was prepared with lentil soup, ham and cheese or ham sandwiches. The team also had a selection of hot and cold drinks.Once again it was a quiet night so there was plenty of food for everybody. 59 meals were served during the evening. Thursday night, as Wednesday, was another quieter evening with 72 meals served. 63 people came to Plymouth Soup Run and 9 meals were collected for family / friends. Thanks to #plymouthmayflowerrotaryclub there was plenty of food for everyone with a choice of 3 varieties of sandwiches, a selection of hot savoury items, snack bags and fresh vegetable soup. Plus tea, coffee and hot chocolate. 4 sleeping bags were given out.It was great to hear that 2 people, having been on Project 58:7, then in Sleep Safely at Hamoaze House, have moved into their own accommodation this week. Plymouth Soup Run
Wednesday, was a surprisingly quiet night for the team from #MutleyBaptistChurch who served 52 people on Plymouth Soup Run with another 9 bags of food collected for family / friends. The team had catered for far more people than were seen, so lots of extras were given out and there was still some food to drop off at George House BCHA. 3 blankets were given out plus some socks, hats, and gloves. It was a surprisingly chilly evening.2 referrals were made to Path Devon. Plymouth Soup Run
St Matts Plymouth is one of the Plymouth Soup Run teams who collect food from FareShare South West, which meant on Tuesday, the team had an abundance of food including some ambient food as well. The kitchen team had been busy and prepared spicy parsnip soup with a choice of cheesy pasta, ham and cheese slices with cabbage or cheesy baked potatoes with beans. There was also a snack bag for everyone with a choice of sandwiches. 74 people were served on the Run with a further 9 meals collected for family/ friends. The remaining meals were delivered to George House BCHA.It was a beautiful calm, clear night with some people staying to chat. On Monday the team from #SaltashMedicalCentre were hosted by Vicky and Holly from #HopeBaptist and Louis our DofE student. Huge thanks to Mark, Alex, Caroline and Delphine who all pitched in at late notice.Mary drove team #Vivo along with Simon and Bronia our Prayer Pastors. Several people were upbeat and able to share good news with the team, while for others the team were very aware it was a damp and chilly night for people who are currently #streethomeless. 2 sleeping bags were given out.Some people had found Mother’s Day a particularly difficult day.The 3 StreetVet Plymouth volunteers helped our four legged friends.62 folks came to be served with 11 bags collected for friends or family. Plymouth Soup Run
There was plenty of food for everyone on Sunday night when Plymouth Soup Run served 91 people with another 20 meals collected for family/ friends unable to come to one of the stops. Lyndsey and Jean prepared a choice of 3 hot meals : cottage pie, chicken and bacon pasta or vegetable lasagna. Volunteers from STORM running prepared 100 + sandwiches and we had lots of extras, plus spicy lentil soup, thanks to FareShare South West. Once again many thanks to Dawn, her dad and clients at #thecuttingcorner for their very generous donations, some of which were given out straight away last night.There were enough socks for everyone who needed, plus toiletries. 1 sleeping bag was given out.A staff member from Path Devon joined the team at the first stop to arrange accommodation as part of Project 58: 7.As always chatting and listening to people, as well as serving them, is an integral part of what we do.HUGE thanks to everyone who helped on Sunday. It was a dry, very busy night for the Plymouth Soup Run team from Plymouth Methodist Central Hall and St Peter & the Holy Apostles, Plymouth. The team served vegetable soup, hot slices, sandwiches, snacks and a choice of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There was was just enough food for everyone. 72 people were served across the 4 stops with another 9 meals collected for family / friends.Toiletries and some clothes were also available. As every night there were requests for sleeping bags and blankets. In February, Plymouth Soup Run gave out 60 sleeping bags.As always it was good to connect with people and hear their news. Plymouth Soup Run
It was a slightly quieter Saturday morning with 24 people joining us during the morning with a big rush during the first 15 minutes when 17 people came through the door.In the kitchen #charlieede, together with Lee and Jack, were busy preparing and serving the full English breakfast which today included hash browns, mushrooms and white pudding. The team also started to prepare the vegetables for the Sunday Plymouth Soup Run meal, together with help from Barbie and Lyndsey.During the morning we were joined by a podiatrist from Forgotten Feet - Helping Homeless Feet who was very busy treating 7 people. 8 people had a shower and a small number of people caught up on their sleep. Thanks to EVERYONE for their help during the morning and also to Councillor Chris Penberthy who called in with a really helpful donation of breakfast cereal and used the opportunity to catch up, both with volunteers, and the people we serve. #MakeADifference #communitysupport #helpingothers ...
