The team also started to prepare the vegetables for the Sunday Plymouth Soup Run meal, together with help from Barbie and Lyndsey.During the morning we were joined by a podiatrist from Forgotten Feet - Helping Homeless Feet who was very busy treating 7 people. 8 people had a shower and a small number of people caught up on their sleep. Thanks to EVERYONE for their help during the morning and also to Councillor Chris Penberthy who called in with a really helpful donation of breakfast cereal and used the opportunity to catch up, both with volunteers, and the people we serve. #MakeADifference #communitysupport #helpingothers ... Plymouth Soup Run
On Thursday, it was hard to believe just how many people were out, especially at stop 1, given the horrendous weather. The wind was so strong it was almost blowing us along, a tree was down near the last stop and everyone was soaking wet, yet again. 58 people came for food with another 12 meals collected for family / friends. As well as food, 4 sleeping bags were given out, plus some clothes, useful draw string bags and wet wipes. At Mayflower Street people were waiting to see Path Devon staff hoping to access the church as part of Project 58: 7 .5 people from the soup run went to the church, 3 of whom were new. Huge thanks to all the volunteers from the Lions Club of Plymouth CIO both front and back of house. And a very special mention to one of the team, Brian, who was celebrating his 84th birthday serving on the soup run. Such dedication to service. #helpingothers #communitysupport ... See MoreSee Less

Plymouth Soup Run
It was an extremely busy Saturday morning at Shekinah for the Plymouth Soup Run volunteers. 28 people joined us at #Shekinah during the morning with 17 full English breakfasts served in the first 30 minutes! Well done Peter Moxy Plymouth and Trish. 10 people took the opportunity to have a shower with many having some items of clean clothing . One person had their foot dressed.Although it was a busy morning, there were some very lighthearted moments when jokes were told and some more serious moments when the Heroin Nitazene drug alert information was shared, helping to raise awareness about carrying Naloxone and calling 999 immediately if it is suspected someone is unwell. As the weather was dry and warm many people enjoyed spending time in the garden chatting to each other and the team.1 person, currently sleeping in their car, had run out of petrol and we were able to use some money from the Household Support Fund to purchase enough to tide them over. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped during the morning. Apologies that there isn’t a photo of everyone, but it was such a busy session!#helpingothers #CommunitySupport ... See MoreSee Less
