Many thanks to everyone who helped collect, prepare and serve the food on Monday. As every Monday Hope Baptist Church organised the run with volunteers from their own church, #babcock T.U. and friends. As well as providing food it is always good to catch up with people and hear their news. 2 people who had been referred to Path Devon on Sunday were able to tell us about the help they had received on Monday. Another person told us that he now has a flat to move into. Whilst not everyone’s news was positive our volunteers will always be there to listen, signpost and support. And, as always, on a Monday StreetVet, Plymouth, were on hand to provide care and support for people’s pets. ... Delicious and nutritious Chicken and Bacon soup was on the menu on Sunday. Thanks to #gavinhobbs for making the soup and FareShare South West for the ingredients. The team also served a selection of hot items, including vegetarian lasagna, sandwiches, fruit, snacks and hot and cold drinks. Hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows was VERY popular. After a quieter week the number of people waiting for food on Saturday and Sunday was 100 +. Yesterday, following a phone call from a health professional, an emergency food package was delivered to a person who was diabetic, housebound and with no food. A sad reminder both that life can be very hard for some people and that on a Sunday, Plymouth Soup Run is one of the only food providers operating. As always many thanks to ALL the team. ...
